This site puts the lunar rule, the month-by-month intensity, the free option at Punta Cocos and the three bookable tours in one place. All three sit on the Holbox bioluminescence tours page.
Who writes it
Renata Balam has guided night kayaks on the Holbox lagoon since 2018, first for a local operator and now on her own boats. She checks each listing against what the guides on the beach are actually doing that month, because the published start times on a booking platform mean very little on an island where the moon sets the schedule.
When the honest answer is that you should walk to Punta Cocos and pay nobody, the page says so.
How the numbers get here
Prices, ratings, review counts, durations and age limits come from each operator's own listing on the day we check it, and the date is printed next to them. Nothing is carried over from memory.
Where sources disagree we print the disagreement. The season is the clearest case: one hotel blog says July to mid-August, a tour blog says May to September, another says April to November. This site uses Eco Adventure Holbox's own figures, 70% to 100% intensity from May to September and 30% to 80% otherwise, and states plainly that the phase of the moon on your night matters more than the month.
What we are not
We are not a tour operator, a travel agency, or the official site of Eco Adventure Holbox, VIP Holbox Experience, Alejandro Flores Castañeda or any booking platform. We take no payments and hold no reservations. Every booking, change, refund and pickup question goes to the operator or platform named on your confirmation, and their terms are the ones that count.

How it pays for itself
The booking links are affiliate links. Book through one and the platform pays us a commission, and you pay the same price you would pay going direct. That commission funds the checking, not the ranking.
